I just finished reading this trilogy in about 3 days, and I'm chewing them over...much like I would chew on something that I'm not quite sure whether or not I like the taste of. They were very different, and I value something that has its own distinct feel and atmosphere. But I'm not sure I can sign off on them, either... mostly because I just can't kill the inner Catholic in me and these books deliverved a nice psychic slap in the face to that inner Catholic. A slap with a smelly fish, to be precise. Did I find them offensive? Well, not really...but the books make some very interesting theological statements that were just... odd, honestly.
No spoilers here: if you want to know what I'm talking about, take a gander. I don't consider my time wasted reading them...and I prefer reading the books before I go see or rent a movie based on one. Even while I was pondering whether or not these books were good, I still wanted to finish them. So they held my attention.
Boggle.

Elizabeth Kostova, author of _The Historian_ was a graduate of Webb High School and will be in town from the 14th-16th of November doing a book signing or some such.
I started the above mentioned book, but didn't finish. Not really sure why I didn't, considering the subject matter, but there you have it.
And by the way, Happy Halloween!
